WebAssembly existed in the browser as a binary format to run native code for a while now. However, its usage as a server-side technology is relatively new. Some call it the future of computing, some call it revolutionary, and some call it hype. Outside over-exaggeration and under-estimation, let’s explore what WASM outside the browser means. This talk aims to introduce the technology through its history and background, covering the ongoing work to bring standardization to the runtime like the WASI and WAGI. Will also cover the Wasm support in Docker and Kubernetes. And talk about what’s happening today and who uses it to build apps. How useful it could be. All this with hands-on demos.
