Each organization has its unique reasons for embarking on its digital transformation journey - whether to improve efficiency, enhance customer engagement and empathy, reduce costs, or for other motivations. However, studies and practical experiences indicate that only a small percentage of these initiatives achieve their original objectives.

As I progressed from an engineer to an engineering leader, I have had the privilege of leading & learning from several transformation programs in the retail, hospitality, and supply chain industries. While some initiatives unlocked organizational potential, others "barely survive" despite significant investment.

While leadership is accountable, we (engineers) have a role to play. Taking a self-critical view and focusing on parameters we control, I will bring "5 Dysfunctions of Engineering Teams" to life which has a significant bearing on the outcomes of transformation programs.
- A rewrite to fix all issues
- Blinded by North Star Architecture
- What are we optimizing for
- Constrained by constraints
- Disconnected from first principles

While we face challenges, our response can be effective by encouraging our teams to take an evolutionary approach. I hope that engineers and leaders in the audience will spot similarities and feel empowered to own and drive sustainable changes within their programmes.
